HELLO & Welcome
My name is Ellie Thompson, I am a second-year, Communication Design student in the School of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati. My interest in communication design started in high school when my school offered only one digital design course and I took it two times because I enjoyed it so much. What sealed the deal was when my painting teacher pushed me to submit a poster to a contest promoting the local art stroll. I listened, entered, and won. From that point, I have found a passion for using my creative vision as a problem-solving tool.
Outside of the classroom, I am involved in the UC Thrift Club where we promote sustainable fashion through sewing classes, up-cycling workshops, and Thrift Store Pop-ups around campus. I also volunteer at Rohs Street, serving locals and furthering the company's objective of allowing the community to unite as they host events, display local artwork for free, and use smaller regional businesses to source their products. Living in Cincinnati, I have grown fond of the sense of community and rich culture that is hard to come by elsewhere and I would be honored to be a part of that enrichment.
