CD Redesign
Objective:
Remake Frank Ocean's Channel Orange cover, to display feelings that are reflected in the auditory experience of the album. Emotions linked to longing, summer days, being young and complex.
Research
To capture the essence of the album I wanted to do an initial shoot at East Fork Park, which has a beach to play on the literalness of "Channel". From there I wanted to experiment with overlays of different materials, textures, and images to speak to the layered themes of the album.

Photos of model
My faceless model, Madeleine, is the model for the back of the CD. I chose her as she offers this unique feel to the project. Her tattoos and youthful look offer a current feel and appeal to those coming of age. I landed on this sprawled-out positioning as it found it the most natural but also to frame the movement on her side to mimic that of the shoreline and the sheet.
Subject Exploration
I tried some other shots of my subjects involving the lake used in the cover. A mirror was brought to the shoot for the sole purpose of lighting, but I wanted to experiment with some shots using the mirror in the frame.

Final Cover Edits
I picked this shot of the beach out of all of them because of the strong greens and blues of the scene but also because of how the shoreline cuts through the photo and creates movement. I also captured my model in the photo which makes the front and back have a sense of cohesion.

Lyric Book
Elements to achieve the result of the lyric book were an exploration of textures from the sheet, color overlays, color reversals, and eye drops of photos.
